San Diego Interactive Marketing Meetup: Content Marketing vs. Content Strategy

A couple of weeks ago, we hosted our first official San Diego Interactive Marketing Meetup! Loyal Thunder fans might remember our previous Meetup, the San Diego SEO Meetup, which we’ve blogged about before. After some deliberation and industry shifts, we knew “SEO” was too narrow for our growing group, so we rebranded to “San Diego Interactive Marketing Meetup,” and we are stoked.

In June, we were joined by Patrick Vincler from local online retail company Provide Commerce, the umbrella organization for ProFlowers, RedEnvelope, Shari’s Berries, Gifts.com and several other national e-commerce brands centered on gifting. Patrick’s presentation walked us through the differences between content marketing and content strategy, which, contrary to popular belief, are two different things! Topics, such as audience and customer research, persona creation, content development, messaging, and measurement were all covered, and the group had some great questions for Patrick.
