Vision Forward – The Passion Of ThunderActive

By Max Thomas

It started with a crazy question:

“What gets you out of bed in the morning?”

That’s the question the Thunder team was asked nearly 2 years ago. We were gathered together to identify our Vision Statement. Our fearless guide and moderator lead us through the process of identifying who we are as a company. She explained that the starting place is our Vision because that’s what gets us out of bed in the morning to go to work and do what we do.

So we asked ourselves that question in many, many different ways and finally arrived at our vision: To inspire passion for interactive marketing through true innovation and results.

It sounds so succinct today, but it took several months of company-wide and group meetings, along with ongoing deliberations, to arrive at this powerful statement. For you see, every word in this statement has meaning for us as people, as a company, as an industry and in relation to our clients and partners:

Interactive marketing.

What I love about our Vision is that it inspires. What’s more, it inspires passion. I’d say to inspire passion is an excellent way to start any day.

We’ve made it clear that we inspire passion for interactive marketing, but I’d like to think that (on the whole) Thunder goes beyond and inspires passion for building community with our peers, for creating equal partner relationships with our clients, for pursuing excellence in how we approach what we do, for having fun and joy in how we work, for being innovative and leaders, and for sharing knowledge with transparency.

In fact, this sums up pretty nicely our Core Values, which we defined via another series of group meetings, and also internal and client surveys. Our Core Values define who we are and how we support our Vision. It all comes together pretty nicely.

ThunderActive: Values

Passion is an awesome feeling. When we feel passionate about what we do and how we do it, it’s like we’ve hit a home run. And when we get other people (e.g., folks outside our industry) passionate about interactive marketing, it’s like we’ve hit the ball out of the park!

It’s this same feeling of passion that has brought together the amazing group of people who are ThunderActive. It’s the same passion that has motivated us to transform a small search agency into a full-fledged multi-disciplinary interactive marketing agency. It’s the same passion that guided us in defining our Vision and relaunching ourselves as ThunderActive.

In writing this story I decided not to tell the history. If you’d like to learn more about ThunderActive’s past and how we got to where we are now, please check out our timeline (it’s really cool!). Instead, I want to focus on ThunderActive’s story from the Vision going forward. As such, I’ve come to embrace “Vision Forward” as a motivation and reflection of the amazing things that are happening at ThunderActive and how proud I am of the people I work with and the company we’ve created.

We’ve come a long way and now we’re bursting forth with our Vision and passion for transforming interactive marketing and growing a company that transforms all of our lives.

Now that’s something to get out of bed for!
